Cricket is religion in India and players are given demi-god status and the players are heavily praised when they do wonders for the nation and also criticized to the extreme when they fail in the crunch moments of the game.

India for the first time lost a world cup match against Pakistan by 10 wickets and fans started hurling abuses on the official social media account of Mohammad Shami and started targeting him for his religion which doesn’t make sense.

Mohammad Shami has been a hero of the Indian cricket team who has clinched overall 355 wickets for India and has time and again provided crucial breakthroughs for India on several occasions.

Many Cricketers have criticised  online mob for targeting Mohammad Shami and lends their support to the ace fast bowler and termed him “Legend” of Indian cricket.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra bashed online trolls and wrote: “Online trolls are the ones who earlier used to burn effigies and throw paint-stones at player’s houses…with an online profile without a face worthy of a profile pic.”

Former India cricketer, Irfan Pathan said he has been part of those Indian teams who have lost against Pakistan but no one those days told him to Go Back to Pakistan and what is being said to Shami is absolutely disgraceful.

The other Tweet came from attacking opener, Virender Sehwag who took to Twitter to show support towards Shami and termed him as “Champion”.He backed Shami to deliver big for India in next encounter when they step onto the field against New Zealand.

Other former cricketers VVS Laxman, RP Singh, Harbhajan Singh extended their support to Shami.

India has to win their next matches from now onwards as they will be next facing New Zealand on

October 31st, 2021 in Dubai.
