Scoring hundreds in the shortest format of the game is one the toughest job for a batsman, but in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the players made the job too easy and there are several occasions where the players hit the fastest 100 in this tournament. The foreign players dominate this list, but there are also some local players, who have made it to the list.

#1. Chris Gayle (100 in 30 Balls)
When it comes to breaking records as a batsman in the shortest format of the game, Chris Gayle is the name that comes to everyone’s mind. And rightly so, the Universe Boss tops the list for his breathtaking knock of 175* off just 66 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013. He scored his hundred in only 30 balls, which is the fastest 100 in the history of IPL. Gayle’s sparkling knock took Royal Challengers Bangalore took a mammoth score of 263, which is the highest-ever total in the history of IPL till now. He is also the only batsman with more than 300 sixes in the league and has also the highest score of 175* to his name.

#2. Yusuf Pathan (100 in 37 Balls)
Yusuf Pathan was unstoppable at his prime in the IPL and his scintillating knock of 100 from 37 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2010 is still one of the popular knocks in IPL history. It is also the second fastest hundred in IPL history. However, Yusuf’s knock ended in a heartbreaking way as his side Rajasthan Royals felt short of only 4 runs while chasing Mumbai’s 213. The middle-order batsman was the lone fighter of the side as his side stumbled to 66/4. Yusuf Pathan batted all the way till 17th over to take Rajasthan closer to the target, but an unfortunate run-out ended the innings and so as the hopes of Rajasthan.

#3. David Miller (100 in 38 Balls)
South Africa’s middle-order batsman David Miller got the tag of finisher after his special innings in IPL 2013. The knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore changed things around for Miller as he played an outstanding match-winning knock of 101* off just 38 balls. Chasing 191, Kings XI Punjab fell apart with 64/4, but Miller changed the whole complexion of the game right after he came to the crease. Miller’s knock includes 8 fours & 7 sixes and he finished things off with two overs to spare. It is the third-fastest 100 in the history of IPL and one of the knocks that the cricket world will never forget.

#4. Adam Gilchrist (100 in 42 Balls)
In the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Australia’s legendary wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist made his name to the top after smashing the fastest 100 against Mumbai Indians. It is now the fourth fastest hundred in IPL history. Chasing Mumbai’s 155, openers Gilchrist and VVS Laxman hit the bowlers all over the park to register a 10-wicket win. With 9 fours and 10 massive sixes, Gilchrist hammered 109* off just 47 balls at a strike-rate of 231.91.

#5. AB de Villiers (100 in 43 Balls)
AB de Villiers is one of the cleanest hitters of the ball when it comes to the limited-overs format and has been an integral part of Royal Challengers Bangalore over the years in the IPL. He has played some explosive knocks for the side and among them, his firing knock of 129* from 55 balls against Gujrat in Lions in IPL 2016 left everyone speechless. De Villiers smashed hundred in only 43 balls and it is now the fifth fastest 100 in the history of IPL. Virat Kohli also scored a hundred in the same game and the deadly duo took Royal Challengers Bangalore to a mammoth total of 248 runs in their 20 overs.
