Erik Ten Hag becomes the fastest Manchester United manager to win 20 games

Ten Hag ahead of Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho in this list

13-time English Premier League champions Manchester United are slowly and steadily making their way back to the top under their new manager Erik Ten Hag. The Former Ajax head coach has settled down really well at the Old Trafford and has complied to each and every requirement of English football.

Many believed that he could do wonders with a club which took many steps downhill after 2013 while some were of the view that he will be just another manager coming in to get sacked eventually. Even Pep Guardiola last season spoke upon the rumors about United signing Ten Hag and the Spaniard insisted them to sign him as quick as possible.

Erik Ten Hag had previously worked with Guardiola as his assistant manager at Bayern Munich and it will be fair to say that the Man City manager was right about it. He has shrugged off all the doubts and criticism as he has now become the fastest manager in Manchester United’s history to win 20 games.

He overtook the likes of former managers like Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer, Louis Van Gaal, David Moyes and Jose Mourinho. United are currently on a run of 8 matches without a loss and they will face Manchester City up next in the Premier League.

The Red Devils under the 52-year-old have played 27 matches in PL, UEFA Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup – winning 20 matches, losing 5 times and Drew 2 games. It is not bad for someone who filled the controversial managerial post just about 5 months ago.

However, his initial days weren’t too smooth as he had to deal with United’s biggest problem earlier in the season – Cristiano Ronaldo and his attitude. But he was extremely clear about his stance with Ronaldo and as a result the Portuguese was shown the exit door.

One of the best things he did after arriving at Old Trafford was signing Casemiro, Anthony, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. All of the 4 signings made an instant impact and United are developing into a force which can bring the glory days back.

Erik ten Hag has also reinvented the career of English International Marcus Rashford, who was struggling in the last few seasons but he has found his rhythm back as he is currently United’s top goal scorer.

The defense has also done their job pretty well as they kept 14 clean sheets. They also booked a spot at the Carabao Cup Semi-final and are looking highly favorites to finish in the Top 4.

These are Manchester United’s stats under Ten Hag –  Goals scored: 49, Goals conceded: 26, Clean sheets: 14 & Top scorer: Marcus Rashford (15 goals)

Will they maintain their Red-hot form or are they going to see themselves slip in the second-half of the season?
