Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio signs a deal with Manchester City for their OTT platform City+

One of Mukesh Ambani’s consortium of business venture, Reliance Jio have signed a regional partnership with 7 time English Premier League champions Manchester City. The news of this official deal came out on 5th January 2023 and after telecasting the entire FIFA World Cup 2022 live, Reliance Jio are back at it again.

Their efforts to build a nationwide digitized footballing community in India will see a massive boost after their collaboration with one of the biggest clubs in Europe. The Premier Legaue champions a few years ago acquired Mumbai City FC into the City Football Group and this was the next step by City to help Football grow in India.

It is supported and made possible by RISE Worldwide, a project of Reliance. Through this alliance, Man City and Jio will work together to create a range of entertaining experiences that fans can enjoy through Jio’s digital ecosystem, which includes JioTV, MyJio, Jio STB, JioEngage, and other applications and platforms, in addition to special prizes and in-store events.

According to the agreement, Man City’s OTT platform CITY will be integrated into the JioTV platform, giving Indian supporters additional access to premium club content like match highlights, live Manchester City Women’s team and Elite Development Squad fixtures, matchday content, and City Studios documentaries.

After the signing of this new agreement, it has been established that Ambani’s refining-to-retail conglomerate is eager to gain ground in the international sports industry and is relying on its powerful telecom network to attract partners. The top cricket league in India’s internet rights were purchased by the billionaire’s family last year for $3.1 billion.
