CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has dismissed all the reports which said Dawid Malan replaced Suresh Raina in the Chennai Super Kings squad for IPL 2020.

CSK has been tight-lipped about a replacement ever since senior-pro Raina decided to fly back to India and give this year’s IPL a miss citing personal reasons but on Friday reports emerged that No.1 ranked T20I batsman Dawid Malan, who has been in fantastic form of late, might replace the former India batsman.

Viswanathan, however, denied the reports saying that the foreign quota of eight players in the CSK squad is already full.

This is news to me as well because our quota of foreign players is already full. So I don’t know how we can have another foreigner in the squad,” Viswathan told ANI.

Earlier it was reported that Dawid Malan might replace Suresh Raina in the upcoming edition of IPL. Dawid Malan has been in a great run of form in T20s. He recently overtook Babar Azam to become the number one T20 batsmen in world cricket.

Dawid Malan has been a consistent run-scorer for England in T20 internationals. He turned out with match-winning performances in the recently concluded T20 series against Australia. Malan scored 66(43) and 42(32) in the first and second match of the series.

Dawid Malan, in his illustrious career, has played 16 T20 internationals, scoring 682 runs at an impressive average and strike rate of 48.7 and 146.7 respectively.

The Indian Premier League 2020 is scheduled to start from 19th September 2020. As per the official schedule, the first match of the tournament will see Chennai Super Kings taking on Mumbai Indians on 19th September 2020.

All the matches will be played in three venues- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. The final of the tournament will be played on 10th November 2020.
