Breaking Adidas in talks with BCCI to become India's Jersey sponsors!

In a recent development, sports merchandise kingpin Adidas, which has a net worth of $29.52 Billons as of February 17, 2023 are in talks with the BCCI to become to the jersey sponsors of the World No. 1 ODI and T20I team. If the deal materializes, Adidas will become sponsors of team India for the first time ever.

Adidas has a world-wide popularity in different sporting leagues around the globe. In FIFA World Cups, they provide the Match balls and also during the UEFA Champions League every year. They also sponsor jerseys for some of the famous Football clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus and River Plate.

The Three stripes brand will replace Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (Killer Jeans) as the next jersey sponsors. BCCI knowing the fact that Killer Jeans do not have any sporting backdrop to their brand, wants to bring on board a renowned brands which can match India’s standards.

Before MPL agreed on a 3-year deal with BCCI as India’s apparel sponsors and pulled out pre-maturely, US based company Nike provided threads to the Indian team on a 5-year contract worth 370 Cr from 2016 to 2020. But BCCI have taken care of that as the deal with Adidas could come into effect later in June.

The deal is reportedly set to last until March 2028 and in that period, India will play at least 6 ICC events. Meanwhile, this will not be for the first time that Adidas will associate with a national cricket team as they have previously sponsored England and also sponsored bats for Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma.

India’s next match will take place on March 1 at Holkar Stadium in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
