Women’s cricket in India is on the news like never before. In terms of advertisement and opportunities, the sport for the Females is slowly becoming as equal as the Men’s. A few months ago, BCCI had announced to put the Women cricketers on the same wages as the Men.

Then the inaugural Women’s Premier League was announced and 5 franchises came forward to buy the respective teams for a record breaking total sum of 4993 Crore combined. After that the inaugural ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World cup took place and the Indian team became the champions in the first edition ever.

The world cup win gave Indian women cricket a perspective and some confidence to go forward. Shafali Verma’s side helped India become World champions in any women’s tournament for the first time and showed that nothing is impossible.

Now, all eyes are on the senior Indian team which is playing the ICC Women’s T20 World cup 2023 also at South Africa. Everyone is hoping for India to come out victorious. History was made once again on 13 February when the WPL Auctions took place.

Smriti Mandhana received the highest bidding – 3.40 Crore to the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women. And just a day later, video clip of a little girl and few boys playing cricket went viral across all social media platforms. In that video, the girl was batting with a boy bowling her.

She was seen hitting big sixes to boy and the video generated a lot of praise as well as traction. The God of Cricket – Sachin Tendulkar himself acknowledged the girl’s and batting and appreciated her to carry on.

“Kal hi toh auction hua.. aur aaj match bhi shuru? Kya baat hai. Really enjoyed your batting.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also shared his thoughts on the video and said – “Amazed by the young girl’s cricket skills & passion for the game! I’m glad to see that the future of Women’s Cricket is in good hands. Let us work together to empower our young athletes so that they can become future game changers! #GirlsInCricket #FutureStars @wplt20.”
