5. 2/24 vs Delhi Capitals
After a splendid display in 2014, Varun Aaron had a horrible season in 2015. He played only 6 games in this season, and he cannot blame the team management for not selecting him. In those six games, Aaron only managed to pick up 3 wickets. But this particular game between Aaron’s Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals was the only time he was on song in 2015.
Batting first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi lost opener Shreyas Iyer very early. But from there onwards, experienced JP Duminy and Indian batter Mayank Agarwal guided the innings with caution and calm. The partnership was broken in the 6th over by Iqbal Abdullah. Varun Aaron jumped in at the next over and picked up two very crucial wickets of Yuvraj Singh and Angelo Mathews. This was a very shameful outing for Delhi Capitals as they only scored 95 runs.

4. 2/20 vs Kolkata Knight Riders

This game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens is hence an odd one out.
Bowling first, Aaron gave Rajasthan Royals a dream start as he got rid of Chris Lynn for a duck. In just the fifth over of the game, he also got rid of another opener Chris Lynn. Though Aaron couldn’t add to his wickets tally after that, he conceded just 20 runs, which helped Rajasthan restrict KKR to a target of 175.

3. 2/19 vs Kings XI Punjab
We now go back to the glory days of Varun Aaron, where he surprised everyone with his raw pace. Then playing for Delhi Capitals, this game in 2012 saw an early twenties’ Aaron at nearly his best. Here again Aaron had to bowl first. Opponents Kings XI Punjab got off to a fiery start, but Aaron earned his side a breakthrough in the 4th over.
Australian veteran Shaun Marsh was the first to depart. Just two overs later, he added to his wickets tally as another KXIP opener bit the dust. This time, Mandeep Singh was his victim. Aaron conceded only 19 runs in this time, thereby having the best economy rate of the night.

2. 3/2 vs Delhi Capitals

Now in 2017, Aaron donned the jersey of Punjab, and he annihilated his former team Delhi Capitals. Again bowling first, Aaron saw his team get a great start as Delhi lost 6 wickets within just 33 runs.
But Aaron did not have much to do till then. His job begun when Corey Anderson started forming a partnership with Kagiso Rabada. He broke the 26-run partnership in the 15th over, and then a couple of overs later, dismissed fellow Indian quickie Mohammed Shami. Interestingly, he conceded just 3 runs but only got 2 overs to bowl.

1. 3/16 vs Kolkata Knight Riders
As expected, Aaron’s best ever spell in IPL came from his best ever season – 2014. It was a match between Aaron’s then team, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Here again bowling first, Aaron saw his team get off to a good start as KKR lost 2 wickets with just 10 runs on board.
But things changed in the blink of an eye as Jacques Kallis and Chris Lynn formed a threatening 80-run partnership. Aaron broke that third-wicket stand by getting the wicket of Chris Lynn. A couple of balls later, he also picked up the wicket of Yusuf Pathan. Aaron’s final scalp came in the form of Robin Uthappa, which helped RCB restrict KKR to 150.
