Indian speedster Mohammad Siraj who announced his arrival on a major stage in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia where he leads the pace attack in absence of a star-studded lineup including the likes of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami who were ruled out from the competition due to injury.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli and team management were heavily criticised for not playing Shiraj in the recently concluded WTC final instead of opting to play two spinners on pace dominated pitch which resulted in India’s loss against New Zealand by eight wickets.

As per the reports are to believed, Shiraj is likely to replace Ishant Sharma for the upcoming Test series also we might see shuffling in spin bowling as the pitches in England suit fast bowlers due to varied pace and bounce so in that regard either Ashwin or Jadeja, not both will be seen playing together in upcoming five-match Test series.

“Even if the team management intends to stick with R Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja in the eleven, Siraj will probably replace Ishant (Sharma). But he’s in, and that’s certain,” stated sources as reported by News 18.

With the kind of pace bowling, India have currently in the longest format of the game including the likes of Shiraj, Shami, Yadav and Bumrah India is certainly the favorites to give a tough time to England. The series between India and England will generate huge animosity as the two superhouses of the game will be meeting for the first time in the second cycle of the World Test Championship.
