100 Days to go for FIFA Ballon D’or 2023 ceremony. Who will grab it this year?

We are exactly 100 days away from finding out who will be grabbing the prestigious FIFA Ballon D’or award for 2022/2023 season. Last year Frenchman Karim Benzema won the highest individual award in Football and the anticipation for this year’s ceremony is heightening as people are dying to know if Lionel Messi can pip Erling Haaland to win his 8th Ballon D’or despite having a less illustrious season than the latter.

Realistically, they are the only 2 Footballers who deserve to win it more than anyone else. While Messi secured the ever eluding FIFA World Cup title, Erling Haaland helped City to win their first UEFA Champions League title and join the exclusive list of Treble winners.

The 23-year-old finished as not only Man City’s top-scorer but also Champions League and Premier League’s golden boot winner. He also became the Best player and the best young player in English top-flight, bagged 36 goals including 6 hat-trick in all competitions. Don’t forget that it was just his Debut season and the Norwegian is still evolving.

Messi on the other hand had 42 goal contributions for PSG last season and won 2 silverwares. His first trophy of the season is a trophy that players die to win. Although Messi himself claimed that he doesn’t care about the Ballon d’or anymore as he knows he has completed Football.

Frenchman Kylian Mbappe also had a decent season where he scored 41 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions. He is still a long way behind his “generational” counterpart Erling Haaland who scored 52 times and assisted 9 times. Other than them are all who are expected to finish below in FIFA Ballon D’or 2023 rankings.

Vinicuis Jr, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodrygo among others had decent seasons but can’t compare them to Messi and Haaland. Who is more likely to win FIFA Ballon D’or 2023?
