Zimbabwe Cricket: Before we get to the main topic of upcoming matches would be letting you know about the birth of cricket in Zimbabwe. So we will look into three main parts:

Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZN/u) was the previous name of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) until 2004. Zimbabwe cricket is a full-time member in ICC. They play International Test matches, ODIs and Twenty20 matches. They do organize domestic Cricket matches. Headquarters located in Harare Sports Club, Harare. The current chairman of Zimbabwe cricket is Tavengwa Mukuhlani. Chief Executive is Wilfred Mukondiwa. The main coach of the team currently is Lalchand Rajput.

As of November 2018 ranking of Zimbabwe team is tenth in tests, Eleventh in ODIs and Twelfth in Twenty20.

Due to Country political situations, senior team members Andy Flower and Henry Olonga announced retirement from International cricket. As a protest against “death of democracy” during the 2003 cricket world cup. There was a protest against the cricket team captain “Heath Streak”, during that time most of the senior-most team players quit International cricket. This resulted in a young and inexperienced team playing against International teams like Srilanka and Australia. They lost multiple matches in series; this resulted in the withdrawal of Test status.

There was an improvement on fields in early 2007 and also an awesome victory against Australia in 2007 ICC World Twent20. They did come back to Test cricket with a lot of improvement. After gaining back the Test status, the first match was played against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. Zimbabwe won the match against Bangladesh by 130 runs.

                                                                                                           

Zimbabwe joined ICC union on 21 July 1981. First Test match they played against India on 18-22 October 1992 and the last match they played against Bangladesh on 11-15 November 2018.

As per the statistics they played almost 107 Test matches, out of which they won 12 matches, 68 lost and 27 draws. First ODI international match was played against Australia on 9-June 1983 and the last match they played against Bangladesh on 26 October 2018.

As per the statistics, they have played 517 ODI matches, out of which they won 134 matches, 365 lost and 7 ties. They appeared nine times in the world cup.

In 1997 – 2002 is called as Golden Era in Zimbabwe cricket. Even though they had a lot of challenges with the team, wicket-keeper/batsman Andy Flower was at one point rated as the best batsman in world cricket.
