The Spanish capital-based outfit, Real Madrid bid to get back on track their season against their arch-rivals Barcelona on Sunday as Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane claimed that his job security hinges on winning LaLiga.

After the LaLiga loss at Levante in the last weekend and the loss at Santiago Bernabeu against Manchester City in the midweek by a scoreline 3-2 where Zidane had to take the double blows of conceding three away goals and Sergio Ramos’ suspension, Real Madrid have secured just one victory in their past five games across all the competitions.

Reigning champions Barcelona will go five points clear of their arch-rivals, Real Madrid if they muster out a victory at Santiago Bernabeu with 12 games remaining in the Spanish top-tier competition.  If Los Blancos lose at Bernabeu, they will move away from the title and it will be difficult to recover the season back. Also, the defeat means a third straight defeat for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are already out of the cup competition, Copa del Rey and face a big task to avoid exiting the Champions League at the last-16 stage, yet Zidane said he is not worried about whether he needs to win the Spanish top tier to stay in his job.

He said at a news conference on Saturday.

“I don’t know, that question is for someone else,”

“I know what I need to do. We’re going to try and win a competition this season, that’s what we’re working towards.”

Barcelona hasn’t lost the highly tensed El Classico at Santiago Bernabeu since 2014 and will be hoping to repeat the same in the Spanish capital. who have not lost a league Clasico at the Bernabeu since 2014 and are arriving in the Spanish capital. Also, the Frenchman opined that the recent form of Real Madrid is concerning and it is worrying ahead of their clash against noisy rivals.

Zinedine Zidane admitted:

“It is a delicate moment because there are three games that we have not won in the stadium,”

But the ones who know about football know that these things can happen.

We need a positive spirit. We do not listen to what is said. We need our people with us from the first minute to 90.

“I understand that the people may be upset but we need the people and we will give everything.”

Part of Real Madrid’s problem has been a lack of goals scored on the field and even in El Classico. Sergio Ramos, the central defender, is the only player to have scored more than thrice in the league. And Welsh winger, Gareth Bale hasn’t scored for almost a year without scoring at Santiago Bernabeu.

Former Chelsea player and Zidane’s new signing, Eden Hazard will be absent due to injury, top scorer Karim Benzema has not found the net in his previous five appearances and Zidane highlighted how Madrid were unbeaten between October and February.

“I am not worried because for four months we were winning games,” he said of the lack of goals.

“Even without Eden. I don’t like that he is injured, but we have won. We need to be solid.”
