In January, WWE confirmed that Dean Ambrose had made the decision of not renewing his contract that expired in April. The following month, Roman Reigns, who had earlier taken time off in October 2018 due to leukemia deadly cancer, came back and he, Seth Rollins, and Ambrose reunited as the terrific trio for the Shield for a match at Fastlane, where they defeated the team of Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Drew McIntyre. Even though this was brought into the media as The Shield’s final match together, one future game was scheduled for a final, and a special event called The Shield’s Final Chapter, featuring both The Shield’s and Ambrose’s last match in WWE.

Shield’s Final Chapter | What Happened?

The Shield’s Final Chapter : The Hounds of Justice’s final performance was featured in a WWE Network special event called The Shield’s Final Chapter in which the Universal Champion Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose once again went to battle against the deadly combination of Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin & Bobby Lashley.

Despite Elias starting the attack before the bell was even rung, the resilient Bálor scored back in their next Intercontinental Title Match and fortunately tried and succeeded to overthrow the strumming opponent with a quick, yet effective bash.

Though his title chance ended in defeat, Elias was motivated not to let his craft take a fall, and his post-match musical attempt was soon increased by the voices of The Riot Squad who named themselves “The Elias Squad” for the evening. That tune hit quite a few sour notes as well.

In the closing moments of an explosive team showdown that would mark The Riot Squad’s final match together after the events of the 2019 Superstar Shake-up, Bayley & Moon ultimately came over Ruby Riot & the one and only Sarah Logan. When Liv Morgan tried to interfere in the match and was shot out from the ringside, this moment made way for Moon to hit the Eclipse on Riot for the huge victory.

Later, they confirmed at the end of January that Ambrose wouldn’t be renewing his contract when it expires this month like mentioned previously in this article.

WWE

Reigns were sent to SmackDown in the Superstar Shake-Up while Rollins, Corbin, Lashley, and McIntyre all stayed on Raw. Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor moved to the SmackDown in the Shake-up and will continue to defend his title in a match in a special edition in addition to Bayley & Ember Moon vs. The Riot Squad.

The show started with Elias in the ring doing a song. Elias basically mocked the Shield, expressing and saying that Ambrose was the only one with enough sense to get out when she had the chance since there was no future for The Shield in WWE. Balor’s music had interrupted the process. Balor suggested that he’s one of Elias’ most significant and most dedicated fan and he’s out because he wants to like he said ‘Walk with Elias’. Elias asked him to sing along with him, and Balor said he’d be honored to do it.

He sang the song “When I Love Elias”, you say “Yes I Do”. Balor sang with a lot of passion the song “When I say Elias sucks”, you say “Yes he does”. Elias made it clear that he did not like that, and he attacked Balor, and the ref called out for the bell. Corey Graves and Renee Young joined Michael Cole on the running commentary, and they were particularly pretty annoying during this segment with Renee singing along to the “Yes I Do’ part.

He took most of the match, but Finn made a comeback at the end and won with a beautiful La Magistral cradle which was termed by Corey Graves in roughly about six minutes.

Elias decided to stay in the ring and was about to start singing again when he was interrupted by The Riot Squad. The Riot Squad asked if they could be the Elias Squad only for tonight. All three members are back together and made it to this show. Elias did the same song, as well as the Squad who sang along “Yes I Do”. They tried very hard to change it to “When we say I love the Riot Squad” and for apparent reasons, Elias started cringing during this, and Bayley’s good music thankfully stopped their singing. She was later joined by Ember Moon.

The Squad got the heat going on Bayley and made a hot tag to Moon who ran wild for a while. She made the tag into Bayley, who again was beaten up two on 1. Liv Morgan was interfering at ringside. She tagged into Moon. Ruby then got what appeared to be a three count with her foot on the ropes with Morgan holding her back by her feet. The ref thankfully caught that and sent Morgan to the back. While this was going on continuously, Moon went to the top line and hit Riot with the Eclipse for the win in about just eight minutes.

In the highlights from the show, Lashley, Drew and Corbin broke up a tag match that involved Lucha House Party and the mighty Singh Brothers, destroying all of them. Corbin then went on to cut a promo saying this was just a small preview of what they were going to do to The Shield.

The final result involved The Shield which is Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins defeating Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley.

All three heels entered separately. Corbin got the particular introduction, calling him the Quad Cities favorite son. He said that tonight was not going to be a happy ending. Just like he wrecked Kurt Angle’s retirement, he’s going to end up doing the exact same thing to The Shield. Lashley then went on to take the mic and say they would be lucky to walk out of there unhurt after the beatdown they were about to witness. Drew informed the fans to get on their feet and show them the respect they deserve. He also added that you are only as good as your previous match and after they wreck the Shield, they will be the new upcoming force in WWE.

Shield's Final Chapter

After that, The Shield did the entrance through the crowd as they always used to, and all three were wearing their iconic classic gear.

The initial part of the match was Rollins getting the better of Lashley and Reigns doing the same to McIntyre. Ambrose hit a massive drive towards the outside on him, but Corbin and Lashley hit him before he could finally get back in the ring to turn the tables. Ambrose, later on, took most of the match before getting a hot card to Rollins. He eventually hit a hot tag to Reigns who ran wild on Lashley, hitting the big Superman punch. He finally got a hot tag to Ambrose who in a second lost the big advantage she achieved again.

The end came when Reigns finally hit a spear on Lashley, Rollins then went on to beat the curb stomp on McIntyre, and Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on Corbin. That led to all three guys banging the big powerbomb on Corbin for the pin with Rollins getting the nod.

Cole mentioned afterward how the legendary Ambrose was not being selfish in not getting the pin for himself after the Dirty Deeds but tagged in Rollins so he could get the badge in his hometown.

The crowd chanted “Thank you, Ambrose” afterward and “Please don’t go”. Rollins went on to joke that they tried telling him that already. Ambrose was selling so many injuries from the match, but Rollins and Reigns looked totally fine.

Rollins said that defeating Brock Lesnar for the Universal title was the best of the 15 years in the big business and he couldn’t have done it without the support of his beautiful family and friends, many of whom were in the audience. He also added that it wouldn’t be possible without the brotherhood that is, of course, The Shield. He said that he’ll always love them very much and that “this is for us” after which all three guys embraced which bolstered a “Thank you Shield” chant.

Ambrose went on to finally take the mic. He said that we, implying to The Shield are just like any of you and that if you put your mind to anything and Seth Rollins, who is from right here, is proof of that. He brought up how Reigns came back from something worse than anyone can imagine and he’s here. The Shield is all about breaking down doors and doing what others don’t think are possible and if someone tells you that you can not achieve something, break down the door, stick your middle finger up an and tell them The Shield said that you could. Another “Thank You Ambrose” chant began, and they did The Shield fist bump as their final music played.
