Will Jeremy Doku prove to be the difference maker in Manchester City’s 4th straight PL title?

Manchester City’s summer Belgian summer signing Jeremy Doku has been at the forefront of the club’s great performance since he joined in August 2023. He was at his very best last night when AFC Bournemouth travelled to Etihad.

The European Champions had a sensational home atmosphere as if its a Dreamland in Manchester. The only grief among the hearts of their Fans and players is about Kevin De Bruyne’s absence. There were doubts on how will City operate without his excellence but Pep Guardiola has proved that he always has a Plan B.

City lost back to back matches against Newcastle, Wolves and Arsenal but picked up their pace after drubbing Manchester United 3-0. They doubled the scoring last night at home when they found the back of the net 6 times.

The Catalyst behind all of it has been another prolific Belgian who has found the hand of Pep Guardiola. Of course 21-year-old Antwerp born Jeremy Doku. He has become the youngest player in the history of English Top division to have more than 5 goal contributions in a single match.

In that dreamland at Etihad, if there was any man on the pitch who created a fairytale of his own then it him. From scoring the first goal to setting up other players, Doku did it all.

In the 30th minute, the winger found the back of the net and assisted Bernardo Silva twice, as well as Manuel Akanji and Phil Foden once. This stellar performance propelled the Cityzens to the top of the table, and they also celebrated a goal by Nathan Ake.

On the flip side, Bournemouth managed to pull one back thanks to Luis Sinisterra but currently find themselves in 17th place.

Doku made his move to City from the French Ligue 1 team Rennes during the summer transfer window, with a price tag of €65 million (£56m/$70m)($68.5m). Despite displaying glimpses of his talent throughout the season, it was in this particular match that the Belgian international truly made his mark in the Premier League.
