CSK’s vice-captain, Suresh Raina is likely to miss out of the whole of IPL 2020 as he pulled out of the tournament on Friday due to personal reasons. This left everyone surprised as speculations started doing the rounds on his sudden departure from UAE.
Reports suggested that a rift between Raina and the team management over a hotel room led to Raina’s departure from UAE. However, recently, Raina’s cleared the air after revealing the reason behind the same.
Raina’s uncle was killed in a house-attack which took place in midnight at Pathankot. His cousin has also died while his aunt is still battling for life. After learning the developments, he immediately flew back to India to see his family.
Who will be the new vice-captain?
Meanwhile, a fan asked CSK on Twitter as to who will be the new vice-captain of the team. Chennai Super Kings, who are known for their witty replies, responded in Tamil.
“Wise captain irukke bayam yen? CSK wrote, which means ‘why fear when the Wise-captain is here’. The reply was directed to none other than MS Dhoni.

Chennai Super Kings have been one of the most successful franchises in IPL. They have won the title three times and reached playoffs in all seasons they have been part of. MS Dhoni has been leading the side since the inaugural edition of the league. They won their maiden title in 2010, which was followed by another title 2012. After being suspended for two years, MS Dhoni and Co. won their third title in 2018 and also reached finals in 2019.
The team would be aiming to get their fourth IPL title. With Suresh Raina pulling out of the tournament, the team is yet to announce his replacement. Though, Raina has said that he might make a comeback in the team.
“I’ve been training even while quarantining here. You never know you might see me in the camp there again.” he told cricbuzz.
