Chennai Super Kings, which has won the IPL title five times, has made an important change in the squad for the remaining matches of the 17th season. CSK has included England fast bowler Richard Gleeson as a replacement for injured opening batsman Devon Conway.
The 36-year-old Gleeson is known for his brilliant bowling and is adept at troubling the batsmen with yorkers and bouncers. Gleeson has also made his T20 debut for England. Apart from this, he has also played in many other T20 leagues including Big Bash League, PSL, Bangladesh Premier League, and The Hundred. Now he will be seen using his experience in the IPL.
The inclusion of Richard Gleeson in the squad will strengthen CSK’s bowling, because the team’s leading fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been allowed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play in the IPL only till May 1 and then he will have to return. Mustafizur has been performing brilliantly for CSK this year.
Richard Gleeson made his international debut at the age of 34. This right-arm fast bowler made his international debut for England in 2022. He took the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in his debut T20 match played in Birmingham.
Gleeson has taken 9 wickets in his six T20 match career. At the same time, so far in his career, he has played 90 T20 matches around the world, in which he has taken 101 wickets at an average of 24.32 and economy rate of 8.18. During this period, 5/33 has been his best performance.
