The star of 2018 Under-19 World Cup, Shubman Gill is currently plying his trade for KKR in IPL. The Indian batsman has played some beautiful knocks in the Indian Premier League. Shubman Gill holds great value amongst the current crop of cricketers and will be the guy to watch out for ahead of IPL 2020.
MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have been two greatest inspirations for Gill. Shubman Gill stated that MS Dhoni helped him learn how to believe in yourself. He inspired him to believe in hard work and not give importance to something which is not in our control.
“I haven’t interacted much with Mahi bhai but one thing I have learnt from him is that you can win from any situation, you just have to believe in yourself. Just believe in practice, just believe in the hard work, just don’t give it away,” Shubman Gill told The Indian Express.
Shubman Gill also spent some quality time with Yuvraj Singh, who mentored him while playing for Punjab. Gill stated that Yuvraj Singh told him to play his natural game and enjoy the game.
“Yuvi Paaji told me that I have to trust my own game and I have to go there and have fun and enjoy the game. And that I shouldn’t be too hard on myself,” Shubman Gill said.
Shubman Gill has played 14 matches in IPL so far, in which he has managed to 296 runs with a highest score of 76. Shubman Gill is likely to open the batting for KKR, given that Chris Lynn is not playing for KKR this year.
