Watch : Rohit Sharma show true act of Sportsmanship against Australia at 2nd BGT Test!

India once again handed a shocking defeat to Australia at the 2nd Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2022/23 on the 3rd day. The host kept the momentum flowing through and carried out a fantastic comeback to double the series lead (2-0).

While Captain Rohit Sharma was looking to end the match quickly, he saved Pujara’s wicket by sacrificing his own during a run-out confusion. Rohit had pushed ball to fine leg and called for a single and Pujara ran for the second one as well.

Rohit Sharma being the Captain knows the importance of Pujara and he stopped mid-way knowing he is already out to respect the batter who has more than 7000 runs in Red-ball cricket.

The first test was pretty much a one-sided affair and India ripped Australia’s batting line-up with ease to win it by an innings and 132 runs. But at Delhi, the Aussies showed a better temperament and treated the spinning track very well. Following David warner’s concussion and dismissal by Mohammad Shami, Usman Khawaja kept the score board ticking.

Then in a session winning development for India, Ravi Ashwin got rid of Marnus Labuschagne for 18 and in Steve Smith’s 2 ball, Aswhin handed Smith his marching orders for a Duck. Eventually Peter Handscomb and Pat Cummins survived a little through their knocks of 75 and 33.

India’s second innings saw them reach a run closer to the trail and were bowled out for 262. Australia meanwhile in their 2nd innings crashed out in front of the Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin show. Jadeja took a 7-wicket haul and Ashwin took the remaining wickets.

Thanks to their bowling performances India had to chase down a low total of 115. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out to bat but the latter’s poor run continued as Rahul was out for 1 run in the start of the 2nd over. Cheteshwar Pujara, who was playing his 100th Test match came to bat.
