Top 05 Players with Most Wickets at ACA-VDCA Vizag Stadium in IPL

The mere mention of Indian Premier League brings a big smile onto a cricket fan’s face. The two-month long cricket tournament is no less than a festival in itself, as all the stadiums remain packed with fans to watch their favourite teams and players create magic on the field. Amongst all the major popular venues that host IPL matches under BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) supervision, Visakhapatnam’s ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium is not counted as a prominent one. Although, it has been a host to several international matches and the madness surrounding IPL has also been seen here.

The Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA stadium stands for Andhra Cricket Association – Vishakhapatnam District Cricket Association and is known as the Vizag stadium in short. This venue has been the second home of Delhi Capitals’ since quite some time now, and same is the case with IPL 2025 too. This step by the BCCI was taken to boost cricket’s popularity in the state of Andhra Pradesh and provide fans with an unforgettable experience. Since IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals (DC) have been playing a few matches on the Vizag ground, which has converted itself as their home away from home. Before this, the venue was home to the now defunct Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians (MI), and even the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Between the period from 2012 to 2025, the ACA-VDCA cricket Stadium has hosted 17 matches cumulatively in the IPL, and the total runs scored have crossed the 5200-mark. Interestingly, this venue offers balanced conditions for the players which ensures a fair contest between the bat and ball. The same is visible from the statistical records too. Out of the total matches hosted, teams have won eight games while defending their totals and nine matches have gone in the chasing teams’ favour. The pitch in Vizag surprisingly doesn’t give away heavy bounce and is particularly preferable for the spinners in the playing teams. Though chasing targets may seem like a challenging task, batters have enjoyed batting here in the recent few matches. Serving as a multi-purpose stadium in Visakhapatnam, it is primarily used for international cricket matches. As a second home venue for Delhi Capitals, their first encounter happened here almost a decade ago in 2015. Since then, DC has featured in nine matches, out of which they have won on give occasions and suffered defeat in four matches. DC’s first win on this ground came in 2015, with the following one in 2019 and subsequently in 2024 and 2025. The Vishakhapatnam stadium has a seating capacity of around 27000, the cricket enthusiasts of the city usually come out in large numbers and create an electric atmosphere during IPL matches. With the best players from all over the world shining on the big stage, the matches make for an engrossing experience and thrilling moments for the fans and teams.
