After the dismissal of the openers, there was a bit of a collapse in the Indian middle order, with Rishabh Pant (49) and Hardik Pandya (12) being the only other batsmen to get into double figures. However, Yadav held the fort at one end, playing some scintillating shots and ensuring that the scoreboard kept ticking.

In the bowling department, Riyan Parag was the pick of the Indian bowlers, scalping 3 wickets for just 5 runs. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel also chipped in with two wickets each.

For Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka top-scored with a well-compiled 77 runs, but he lacked support from the other end as the rest of the Sri Lankan batsmen failed to fire.

The victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Surya Kumar Yadav: The Man of the Match

Surya Kumar Yadav was rightfully adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. His knock of 58 runs was instrumental in helping India post a strong total on the board. He also showed his leadership qualities by marshalling his troops well on the field.

Yadav has been in sublime form in recent times, and his knock in the 1st T20I is a further testament to his batting prowess. He is a key player for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, and his form will be crucial to the team’s chances of success.

India’s win in the 1st T20I was a dominating performance from start to finish. The openers provided a solid foundation, Yadav carried the team forward with his brilliant knock, and the bowlers did a good job of restricting Sri Lanka.

The win will give India a lot of confidence going into the rest of the series. They will be looking to seal the series win as early as possible.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will need to go back to the drawing board and assess their performance. Their batting, apart from Nissanka, was a major let down. Their bowling was also not up to the mark.

The defeat will be a huge blow to Sri Lanka’s morale, and they will need to come up with a much-improved performance in the next match if they want to stay alive in the series.
