Shreevats Goswami Introduction
Back when India won the ICC U19 World Cup in 2008, there was a lot of interest about a few players from that crop of exciting players. Many expected the skipper Virat Kohli and the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to be big names in the future. A decade later, Kohli is the skipper of the Indian side, and Jadeja is one of the pillars of the side. In that side, there was also a very promising wicket-keeper named Shreevats Goswami.
Many expected him to be a major part of the Indian side, but that never happened. During the initial days of the Indian Premier League, interest was high about him. Though he still is a part of the competition, one might raise a valid point that Goswami did not realise his true potential. But in any case, he has made some sort of a comeback in the past few years.

Shreevats Goswami Early Life
- Shreevats Goswami was born on 18 May, 1989, in Liluah, Howrah, West Bengal.
- He started playing cricket at the age of 11.
- Ever since he started playing the game, Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has been his idol.
- His father’s name is Pratyush Goswami.
- Goswami has a sister.
- Goswami completed his higher studies from the University of Calcutta, in Kolkata.
- The U19 World Cup-winning wicket-keeper is married. His wife’s name is Payal Jugroop.
- He was a part of the U19 team of Bengal.
- Goswami first came into limelight when he scored 97 against South Africa U19, and 104 against Bangladesh U19 in the Under-19 Tri-nation series.
- For the first three seasons of IPL, he was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- Goswami shifted base to the team that represents his state, Kolkata Knight Riders.
- In the fifth edition of the competition, he was signed by Rajasthan Royals.

- Domestic Career
- Goswami made his List A debut against Delhi in Visakhapatnam, on April 2, 2008. He scored 25 valuable runs in that game before the experienced Ashish Nehra got his wicket.
- His T20 debut came in an IPL game against the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils), which was on May 19, 2008. In that match, Goswami scored a brilliant half-century.
- He made his first-class debut against Madhya Pradesh in Gwalior, on November 10, 2018. He scored 22 runs in the first innings, but could not open his account in the second.
Shreevats Goswami Achievements
- Goswami won the man of the match award on his very first IPL match.
- He was won the Best U19 Player of the Year award for his brilliant performance in IPL 2008.
- He scored a double century in Ranji Trophy 2016/17.
- Goswami was selected to be a part of the Board President’s XI against Australia in September 2017.
- He has also been a part of India A in their series against New Zealand A.
