Kamlesh Nagarkoti is one of the fastest bowlers coming through the age group ranks in India. He has an ability to regularly clock in excess of 140 kph. He is not just fast but he also has the ability to sustain his pace throughout a long spell which makes him a captain’s dream. He came into the limelight in the 2018 ICC under 19 World Cup. He alongside Shivam Mavi caused havoc in the opponent’s camp with their raw pace.

He is one of the biggest potential players from the previous India u-19 squad alongside Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill. Injuries have been a big concern for Nagarkoti as he has missed two seasons of IPL through injury and is yet to make a name for himself in the IPL with Kolkata knight Riders.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti was born on 28 December 1999 in Barmer, Rajasthan, India. He is a son of a subedar in the Indian Army. His bowling talent was first discovered by Surendra Rathore in the cantonment area in Jaipur at the age of 8. He noticed Kamlesh as a talent because of the fact that he was quicker than players older than his age. He then immediately enrolled Kamlesh to his academy in Jaipur where Kamlesh excelled in all three departments of the game.

He has represented Rajasthan at the under 14, under 16 and under 19 level. His ability to bowl at high 140 kph is what has impressed one and all. In February 2017, Kamlesh made his list a debut in the Vijay Hazare trophy against Mumbai at Chennai where he was unbeaten at 21 and took a wicket. Two days after making his List-A debut, Kamlesh took the first hat trick for a Rajasthan bowler in List-A cricket in the Vijay Hazare trophy against Gujarat.

In an Under 19 series against England, Nagarkoti took 14 wickets in two youth tests and earned his place in India under 19 squad for the 2018 World Cup.

He came on to the scene during an India under 19 matches against Australia under 19 where he took 3 wickets and bowled at a consistent place above 145 kilometres with his fastest ball of 149 kilometres.

He was a part of the India squad at the 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup. India won the world cup, the final was against Australia. In the final match on 3rd February 2018, Nagarkoti took 2 wickets and dismissed Australia under 19 captain Jason Sangha. He finished the match with 9 overs for 41 runs with two crucial wickets,

In 2018, he was invited for trials by IPL team Mumbai Indians at that time he did not play any Ranji trophy live so he wasn’t eligible for IPL contact.

Rahul Dravid is so impressed with the pace of Nagarkoti that he has personally monitored him and has included him in India under 23 teams for Asia Cup.

He made his List A debut for Rajasthan against Mumbai at Chennai on February 26, 2017.

He has played 9 List A matches to date scoring 131 runs with the highest score of 56 not out. He has an average of 26.20. He has a half-century to his name. When it comes to his main strength of bowling he has picked up 11 wickets in his 9 matches with an average of 25. His best bowling figure in a match is 3 wickets for 30 runs. In the IPL auction in February 2018, he was bought for INR 3 (USD 500,000 approx.) crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. He is yet to play a match for them due to injuries but has been retained by them for the upcoming edition.
