Serena Williams withdraws from French Open 2020 due to injury

American star tennis player Serena Williams pulls out from the second round of French Open 2020 due to an Achilles injury.

Her second round was scheduled against Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in last 64 clash on Wednesday. This news was confirmed on French Open official website where they tweeted “Serena Williams has withdrawn from #Roland Garos with an achilles injury”.

Willams suffered from injury in US Open semifinal clash against Victoria Azarenka earlier this month. As per the media reports it will take atleast six weeks for her to recover. That was an instrumental match for Azarenka as she won against Williams for the first time in her carrier as the match went for 1 hour 55 minutes at Arthur Ashe stadium.

After the victory, Azarenka said that she is grateful to play against the champion player and happy that she was on the winning side when the match was finished.

Williams is often regarded as one of the best women’s tennis player who has played the game as she has clinched 23 grand slam singles title in her carrier till now falling behind Margaret Court with 24th grand slam title. She has reached at number 1 position in WTA rankings eight times between 2002 to 2017.She has an amazing record of winning 13 Grand Slam title on a hard court surface.

The best part about her game is her powerful return where the opponents have no idea how they have to tackle it in most occasions. She along with her sister Venus Williams is the most powerful duo who has played the game.
