Rohit Tokas Boxer Early Life

Ace Indian Boxer, Rohit Tokas was born on the 1st of August 1993 in Delhi’s neighborhood, Munirka Village. 

At age of 7, Rohit started watching boxing but was never a fan of the sport. During his school time, Rohit used to get bullied by other students. Young Rohit who had lost interest in the sport for some time brought him back to regain his fighting passion. 

Born into the tough neighborhood of Delhi, young Rohit Tokas and his older brother started watching boxing movies together on television and both the brother decided to learn boxing at an elite level.

Rohit Tokas and his brother both insisted their father learn boxing and wanted to become professional boxers one day. Later on, Rohit’s father made them enroll in a local boxing club wherein the journey of Rohit Tokas boxing begin.

Young India boxer Rohit Tokas had a very long injury-prone career till now. The Indian ace boxer missed the chance to compete at the World Championship and Tokyo Olympics due to an entire year of injuries.

In 2018, Rohit Tokas suffered a ligament injury which made him miss out on the World Championships event, and in the same year, he injured his right knee during the national events and his left knee during the India open event which took out Rohit from an entire year.

The knee injury was so bad that the doctor advised him to take rest and recover fully before damaging his whole knee and might have to quit boxing.

Despite beating all the best Indian boxers in his weight category he still missed the chance to participate as Rohit was very much desperate to compete in the Olympic qualifier but the nature of the injury was worse than expected and could have lost his knee.

During the post-lockdown, Rohit Tokas underwent successful knee surgery as the young boxer got time to rehab and started to feel fit again. However, being desperate to train again, Rohit contracted the Covid-19 dreaded virus and was out for a few more months.

Despite having some bad years in his boxing career, his biggest success came when Rohit Tokas stunned the Asian Championships Silver medallist, Ashish Kumar in the quarter-final to confirm his place in the semi-finals in the Fourth Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship.

In the recently conducted tournament All India Inter Railway Championships, Indian Boxer Rohit Tokas clinched the gold medal after defeating Ishmit Singh with a score line of 5-0 unanimous decision.

In an Interview, Rohit Tokas stated,I am very happy with this win, I have been training very hard and putting a lot of hours there practicing and improving my moves and techniques. This victory ensures we are heading in the right direction.”Adding further he said, “It is an important year for me as we have both Commonwealth Games and Asian Games and this victory will surely boost my morale and will make me more confident and push me to train harder.”

Although, Indian Boxer Rohit Tokas is set to make his Commonwealth Games debut in the men’s 67kg weight category.

Indian boxer Rohit Tokas has claimed the berth in the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 and is confident of coming back with the gold medal CWG 2022.

Indian ace boxer will be competing in the 67 kg weight category at the CWG 2022. However, Rohit Tokas confesses that he is low on competing at the international level in the category but the young boxer is confident in himself and aiming to win a gold medal at the prestigious event.
