Michael Cole Biography: Sean Michael Coulthard, better known by his WWE’s name Michael Cole is an American professional wrestling commentator, currently working for Smackdown brand and other wrestling pay-per-views. Michael Cole has been recognized as one of the most decorated commentator in WWE history.

His communication skills and the level of delivering ‘Oh My God!’ punches during the wrestling  events made WWE Universe to feel the electricity inside the squared-circle. Coulthard started his career as a journalist  for CBS Radio. He also covered the 1988 US presidential campaign of Democratic Party nominee Michael Dukakis.  He  covered  presidential campaign of Bill Clinton, the 51-day siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993 and  Oklahoma City bombing

Coulthard joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1997 and soon became the commentator on Smackdown in 1999. He then drafted to the Raw brand in 2008 as a commentator Cole made his in-ring debut as Lawler’s partner against the tag team of Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for World Tag Team Championship. Cole was also made  the official spokesman for the Anonymous Raw General Manager in 2010.

He feuded with Jerry Lawler, that made their match at Wrestlemania 27 . At WrestleMania, special guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin announced that Lawler had won the match but the Anonymous Raw General Manager reversed the decision, makine Cole the winner.

In 2019, Cole returned to Smackdown  with a fresh commentary team including former Raw commentators Corey Graves and special contributor Renee Young.

EARLY LIFE

Michael Cole was born on December 8, 1968 in Syracuse, New York, United States. Cole persuaded his academics from Syracuse University and began his career as a journalist in for CBS Radio. He was also involved in covering US presidential campaigns of  Democratic Party nominee Michael Dukakis in 1988, Bill Clinton in 1992 and covered 51-day siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993. He also covered the Yugoslavian civil war and Oklahoma City Bombing.

Michael Cole resides in McAllen, Texas‎, United States with his wife Yolanda Coulthard, whom he married in 1987. They adopted  two sons named Calvin Cole and Mark Cole.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Cole started his career his career as a journalist and later joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 1997 where he used to deliver voice overs before becoming the host of LiveWire show alongside Jim Cornette.  In 1997, Cole became one of the three announcers for the first hour of Monday Night Raw, alongside Jim Ross and Kevin Kelly.

In 1999, Cole made his debut on Smack down and was chosen to be the show’s play announcer. Cole also had several storylines in his career with stars like  Heidenreich, Stephanie McMahon and DX. Hie storyline with Heidenreich came into limelight where Heidenreich “Heidenraped” him in the arena restroom. In 2006, Cole was announced as the Managing Editor of WWE.com.

Cole was drafted to Raw in 2008 as a play-by-play commentator. He made his in-ring debut as Lawler’s partner against Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for the World Tag Team Championship, however, they lost the match. In 2009, Cole won The “Oh My God” Moment of the Year award for vomiting on Chris Jericho at SmackDown’s 10th Anniversary show

In 2019,  Cole returned to Smackdown with a fresh commentary team including former Raw commentators Corey Graves and special contributor Renee Young. Cole also worked as a special guest announcer for fellow WWE employee Booker T’s professional wrestling promotion Reality of Wrestling in 2013.
