Rajani Etimarpu is the reserve goalkeeper for the Indian National team. Rajani Etimarpu hails from Andhra Pradesh and has featured for the national team in multiple competitions. Rajani Etimarpu Personal Life

Rajani Etimarpu comes from a rural background of Andhra Pradesh. She comes from Enumulavaripalli of Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh. However, she was born on 09th June 1990. As of 2022, she is 32 years old. The player had a struggling start to his career as her family had struggled to meet the ends.

She studied in ZPH High School in Nerabailu district. The player had height as an advantage which she used to take part in the volleyball. However, when she reached the eighth standard of her schooling, she was introduced to hockey and it is where everything began.

Rajani Etimarpu Professional Life

During her farewell during the eighth grade in 2004, Rajani Etimarpu heard the speech delivered by Prasanna Kumar Reddy, the then Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Hockey Association. The Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Hockey Association mentioned about the benefits and advantages of playing hockey and it garnered her attention. The Sports Authority of India was conducting trials in Tirupati and she took part in the same. Her mother accompanied to the trials and the beautiful association with the sport began.

Rajani Etimarpu used to religiously practice during her tenure and in 2008, she was called up to the Junior National Camp. Before that, in 2007, she represented Andhra Pradesh in Junior National Championships in which the team made it to the quarterfinals. However, whenever she made it to the Junior National Camp, the player hardly got the chance to play which disappointed her.

When she got back to Hyderabad to give her exams after disappointments, Rajani received mail about the upcoming senior team selections in 2009. Pouncing on the opportunity, Rajani Etimarpu was selected for the national team. She went on to make her debut for the national team in the same year against New Zealand.

Rajani Etimarpu was a part of the BDO FIH World Cup 2010 where India finished in the 9th position whereas she was an integral part of the team that qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016. She featured with the team in the quadrennial event.

In 2018, Rajani won her first ever international medal in the 18th Asian Games 2018 held in Jakarta, Indonesia when India finished second in the finals. She was also part of the Commonwealth Games XXI Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast, Australia.
