Rafael Nadal becomes fourth player to register 1000 wins in Open era Singles Category

Spanish Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal becomes the fourth player to register 1000 Open era singles victories. He achieved this feat after registering victory against Felciano Lopez by  4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the ongoing Paris Masters. With this win he joined Jimmy Connors(1,274), Roger Federer(1,242)and Ivan Lendl(1,068) in the 1,000 win club.

Nadal expressed his happiness after achieving this special feat and said that winning that many games means that “I am Old”.

“That means I am old. That means that I played well for such a long time because to achieve that number is because I have been playing well for a lot of years and is something that makes me feel happy, no? I just can say thank you very much to all the people that helped me and all the people that in any moment of life helped me to be where I am, no?” Paris Master official website quoted Nadal as saying.

“It has been a special moment. I know is a very special number, 1000. Even if It’s not the same to celebrate something like this without a crowd, I enjoy it with ATP,with the prsident of French Federation, with Guy Forget, supervisor and ball boys” he added.

Nadal is regarded as one of the best tennis player who has played the game and has won a record thirteen French Open title, Four US Open title, two Wimbledon titles and one Australian Open title till now. He is also involved with Davis Cup-winning team who win a title for Spain and currently holds 29 match unbeaten streak. For his contribution towards the game of Tennis he has been awarded with ATP player of the year award five times and ITF World Champion four times in his carrier. Nadal was named as the Laureus World Sportsman of the year award.
