No Foreigner is in a race to become the next coach of the Indian cricket team post-T20 World Cup 2021

Ravi Shastri’s tenure as coach of the Indian cricket team will end post-T20 World Cup 2021 and BCCI is looking to find a new coach for Men in Blue as soon as possible.  There were reports in different media outlets, Tom Moody is in the race to become the next coach of Team India which has been widely dismissed recently as new reports have revealed that no foreign player is in the race to become the next coach of the Indian cricket team and only the choice is between two Indian ex celebrated players and they are Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan.

Sehwag was also in contention to become coach of team India at previous outing too where the Cricket Advisory Committee including the likes of Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, and Tendulkar decided to hand over the coaching reins to Ravi Shastri.

The upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, will also be important for Men In blue as it will be the last tournament for Indian skipper Virat Kohli as leader of the T20 side. Kohli would be looking to change his track record of winning the ICC World Cup trophy where he has been unsuccessful as leader of the side after taking over the responsibility of limited over format from 2016 onwards.

India has lost the 2017 Champions Trophy, 2019 World Cup, and 2021 World Test Championship final under his leadership, and one thing which Kohli desperately wants before anything else is to win an ICC trophy.

It is a nice thought process of BCCI to induct Indian coaches who know the local structure inside out and can easily interact with players in the local language as most of the cricketers of India comes from a humble background where they don’t have much exposure of English language and having a local coach in the side will make them understand the technicality quite easily as compared to having a  foreign coach.
