Meraj started learning and playing kabaddi at a young age of 12. Kabaddi is widely popular in his hometown and believes that the introduction to the game at a young age is something that holds common between him and the Indian players. Meraj Sheykh was a professional wrestler for 10 years before switching to kabaddi and thus, his experience in the ring helps him possess great reflexes and agility on the mat.
Meraj Sheykh International Career:
He also represented his country Iran in the final of Kabaddi World Cup against India in 2016. He has since then, been a regular feature in the side.

In the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup final, Meraj was the captain of the Iranian side that lost to India. It was a close-knit game, which unfortunately didn’t end well for Iran. Meraj was his team’s best player and a constant threat to India defending their title.
Meraj Sheykh Pro kabaddi Career:
He will be playing for Dabang Delhi in Pro Kabaddi Season 7, his fourth straight season with the Delhi team. He made his debut in Pro Kabaddi League in Season 2 with Telugu Titans. He was the first foreign captain in Pro Kabaddi League. Pro Kabaddi Season 5 was the most successful season for him as he scored 96 raid points and 8 tackle points.

Meraj Sheykh is without a doubt one of the best all-rounders in Pro Kabaddi League – Indian or foreigner. The Iranian international is not only a quality raider and defender, but with experience and an ability to stay calm in all situations, he is also one of the most excellent leaders. Sheykh became the first foreign captain in PKL, leading Telugu Titans in 2015. He will once again be the captain of Dabang Delhi in the seventh season.
Sheykh was the best all-rounder in the fifth season with 104 points. The 31-year old has scored 309 raid points 53 tackle points in his PKL career which started in season 2.
The Iranian has already expressed his desire to win the title with Dabang Delhi. After making it to the playoffs for the first time in the club history last year, both Sheykh and Delhi will be eager to cross the final hurdle this time.
He has been the part of the 2 Pro Kabaddi League franchises namely Telugu Titans (Season 2 &3) and Dabang Delhi KC (Season 4,5,6 and 7). He has played 82 matches till date and earned a total of 309 raid points with the help of 16 super raids and 5 super 10’s and at an average of 3.76 raids per match. He has earned 53 tackle points with the help of 6 super tackles and at an average of 0.57 tackles per match
