Early Life and Family

Maninder Singh hails from Dasuya, Punjab, India in a farmer family. Born on 31st January 1990, Maninder starting playing kabaddi during his school days. To learn professionally, he joined the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Kabaddi Club, where he learnt the tricks of the trade under an abled coach like Hanumat Singh. Maninder Singh married to his long time girlfriend Simran Kaur Pannu on 1st December 2017. The couple also had a beautiful daughter named Gurmeet.

Maninder Singh was selected in the U-19 team of his college. In one of the tournaments, he outperformed his opponents and was one of the most successful raiders in the competition. His attacking style of raiding got acknowledged by a famous Kabaddi coach in Jalandhar by the name Hanumat Singh. Hanumat offered Maninder to train professionally and chose Kabaddi as a career as he had all the potential of representing the Indian team. Maninder Singh started playing Club Kabaddi in Jalandhar and soon got the chance to represent India at international level. Maninder Singh also serves as an ASI in Punjab police.

International Career

In 2017, Maninder’s dream of representing the Indian Kabaddi squad was fulfilled as he got the opportunity to represent India in the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship. India went on to win the gold medal in that tournament.

Pro Kabaddi League (PKL)

He then made it to professional Kabaddi and was a part of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) since Season 1. He started off his Pro Kabaddi career at Jaipur Pink Panthers, who won the inaugural edition. Maninder had a vital role to play and was the third-highest scoring raider in the season with 130 points to his name.

He then suffered a serious injury and was out for 3 seasons before making a comeback with Bengal Warrior, where he became the lead raider. He accumulated 190 points and gave one of the better returns in the season.

He then kept on going from there and holds the record for the fastest 400 and 500 points in Pro Kabaddi League. Running hand touch is Maninder’s signature move. He is fast and agile and outwits defenders with ease.

In Pro Kabaddi League Season 6, Maninder clinched 206 raid points from 22 matches. Maninder has also represented India and was a part of the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship winning side.

Maninder scored the most raid points for Jaipur Pink Panthers during Season 1.
He scored more than 200 raid points back-to-back campaigns in Season 6 and 7.
Maninder was the skipper of the Season 7 title-winning Bengal Warriors team before being sidelined by an injury.
Maninder Singh has the record of being the fastest player to reach 500 points in PKL. It took him only 56 matches to reach this milestone. He was also the quickest to score 400 points.
Maninder has the 5th most number of Super 10s in PKL: 23.
