Manchester United receive boost in their pursuit for a top target

Inter Milan appeared to be very close to land Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen, but now, it looks like they have taken U-turn in this transfer saga.

However, it comes as a big boost for Manchester United who is also interested in acquiring the services of the highly-rated midfielder.

Christian Eriksen, who is surrounded by a brimful of transfer speculation, will be out of contract this summer. Reports claim that Tottenham would rather sell Eriksen now than lose him for nothing in the summer and would prefer him to move abroad.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte has identified Arturo Vidal as a better midfield option to sign in the prevailing January transfer window.

According to Corriere Della Sera, Italian gaffer Antonio would prefer a midfielder who has substantial experience of playing in Serie A and apparently, Arturo Vidal could be a good fit.

Arturo Vidal has previously played for Juventus in the Serie A  four seasons. Moreover, he has won three league titles in that reign and has been coached by Antonio Conte earlier.

Conte is reported to have informed the Inter Milan board that if signing both Arturo Vidal and Christian Eriksen is not possible, he would prioritize a move for his old colleague, Vidal.

Amid all this immense transfer speculation, Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho insists that Christian Eriksen will be in the Spurs’ FA Cup third-round tie against Middlesborough.

“I don’t know and I am being honest,” Tottenham boss said in the pre-match press conference.

“You know the situation, at this moment he can agree with any club for the end of the season.

“That is one option.

“Another option is a club and he wants to do a deal in January, but in that situation, our club is in control. We have control of the situation.

“Another possibility is he stays. At this moment he is here, he is our player.”

The 27-year-old midfielder is already able to enter negotiations with interested clubs ahead of a potential summer move and Manchester United are the strong contenders in the list.
