Arturo Vidal is a Chilean professional Footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Spanish club, Barcelona and the Chile national team.
EARLY LIFE
Vidal was born on 22nd May 1987 in Santiago, Chile to mother Jacqueline Pardo and father Erasmo Vidal. His mother was a home keeper while his father was a Shipper and drug addict.
Being born in a poor family he always explores positive means to put monies in his pocket. He skipped his school, to work in the horse racetrack from where he hustled for his daily bread.
His Football skills were discovered by his uncle who later assisted him to join the youth squads of local Primera Division club Colo-Colo
PERSONAL LIFE
Vidal married his long-time girlfriend Maria after they met first back in 2008. The couple is blessed with two children a boy named Alonso and a girl named Elisabetta.
CLUB CAREER
In 2006 he made his professional debut for Cola-Cola in the First league against Universidad de Chile. In 2007 he was transferred to Bayern Leverkusen on a fee of 7.7 million dollars.
After four years of playing for the club, he moved to Serie A Club Juventus with a fee of 10.5 million dollars for a five-year contract. He made his debut against Parma. In 2012-13 season he started from a penalty in the 2012 Suppercoppa Italiana on 11th August 2012.
He further in the coming years contributed his gameplay assisting his club to conquer the two Serie A title, Coppa Italiana and Coppa Italia before moving in Bayern Munich.
He made his debut for the club in the 2015 DFL-Supercup against the VfL Wolfsburg as a substitute. He netted his first goal for the club next year in the same tournament against Dortmund in a 2-0 win.
On 14th April 2018, he suffered a knee injury during training and thus underwent arthroscopic surgery. He made his return to the club at the 2018-19 Bundesliga.
On 6th August he moved to Barcelona with a fee of 19 million euros. He made his debut against Sevilla FC in the 2018 Spanish Super Cup. He netted his first goal for Barcelona against Real Madrid in a 5-1 home win.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
Vidal represented started playing for his national team as a part of its U20 squad. He played 2007 FIFA U20 and netted two goals there.
He made his senior debut against Venezuela. He had contributed his gameplay in 2010 and 2014 World Cup as well as 2011and 2015 Copa America. In the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, he was named as the Man of the Match.
On 11th October 2017, his retirement from International Football came following the same from the National team.
CONTROVERSY
On 16th June 2015 during the 2015 Copa America Vidal crashed his Ferrari in Santiago, he left the hospital in a police car and was summoned to court to face charges for drunk driving. He was banned for two years but as allowed to complete the ongoing Copa America tournament.
