#1. 2008 (5 losses)

The IPL got off to an encouraging start for Kings XI Punjab as they suffered just 4 losses in 14 group stage games in the opening edition of the tournament. Having qualified for the knockouts as the second-placed team in the group, Punjab crashed out of the tournament at the semi-final stage.

#2. 2009 (7 losses)

KXIP Total Losses: Having been close to the title in the first season of the IPL, the number of Kings XI Punjab total losses in IPL matches went up considerably in the second season. Punjab incurred seven losses along with an equal number of wins in 2009 and finished fifth in the table.

 

#3. 2010 (10 losses)

The downslide continued for Kings XI Punjab in the 2010 season as they finished the group stage rock bottom of the table. In 14 group stage matches, Punjab lost 10, failing to get any sort of momentum going.

Another disappointing campaign soon followed for Kings XI Punjab – although the number of teams in the competition was increased, Punjab dropped a league position and ended the season sixth in the table, losing eight and winning eight of their 16 group stage games.

KXIP Total Losses: The 2013 season was pretty much a repeat of the 2012 campaign – the number of Kings XI Punjab total losses in IPL matches went up by eight yet again as the team finished sixth in the table for the second year in a row.

 

#7. 2014 (5 losses)

Total Matches Lost by KXIP: After a series of disappointing campaigns in previous years, Kings XI Punjab roared back to take top spot in the league table in 2014, losing just three of their 14 group stage games. Although they failed to win their first knockout game they took their second chance to reach the final by winning the eliminator only to lose to KKR in a close final.

#8. 2015 (11 losses)

Having put in their best IPL performance the previous season, Kings XI Punjab followed that effort up with one of their worst the next time around, losing as many as 11 of their 14 group stage games as they finished bottom of the table.

 

#9. 2016 (10 losses)

The number of Kings XI Punjab total losses in IPL matches only went up in 2016 as Punjab endured back-to-back seasons of placing last in the group stage. 10 losses in 14 group stage matches summed up a disappointing season.

KXIP Total Losses: Having finished bottom of the table in the last two seasons, Kings XI Punjab made an effort at a comeback in 2017 and only lost 7 of their 14 group stage games. However, their revival was short-lived as they could only manage a fifth-place finish.

 

#11. 2018 (8 losses)

Kings XI Punjab showed signs of life in 2017 but regressed once again in 2018. The number of Kings XI Punjab total losses in IPL went up by eight yet again as the team lost eight of their 14 group stage games on their way to finishing seventh.

Total Matches Lost by KXIP: The most recent edition of the IPL saw Kings XI Punjab take the sixth spot, losing eight of their 14 group stage games. Since then, they have appointed a new captain in KL Rahul and made some shrewd acquisitions in the player auction, and will be looking for an improved showing in 2020.
