Ivar Biography: Todd Smith, popularly known by his ring name Ivar and Hanson, is an American professional wrestler, currently working with World Wrestling Entertainment for Raw brand. He is currently one-half of the tag team partner with Erik as The Viking Raiders. Both Erik and Ivar have been a tag team partner since 2014 with few other tag team names given earlier as The War Machine,and War Raiders.

Smith began his wrestling career in 2001 after being trained by Killer Kowalski. In his initial years, Smith became a part of several wrestling promotions like New England Championship Wrestling and Chaotic Wrestling. From 2013 to 2017, Smith devoted his time to Ring of Honor wrestling promotion, and from 2015 to 2018, he wrestled for Japanese wrestling promotions.

In 2018, Smith signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center. for training purposes. He, along with Rowe made their NXT debut together by defeating Adrian Jaoude & Cezar Bononi. The team of Hanson & Rowe, dubbed the War Raiders defeated the team of Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to win the NXT Tag Team Championship. Rowe and Hanson made their WWE main roster debut in 2018 and changed their tag team name from The War Machine to The Viking Riders. The Viking Riders recently won WWE Raw Tag Team Championship for the first time.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Smith began his professional wrestling career in 2001 after being trained by WWE Hall of Famer Killer Kowalski. Post his training, Smith started performing on Independent wrestling platforms like New England Championship Wrestling and Chaotic Wrestling. He devoted his 12 years wrestling in NECW and other wrestling units.

In 2013, Smith made his debut on Ring of Honor where he was taken as the eighth participant in the 2014 edition of the Top Prospect Tournament. He defeated Raymond Rowe in the final to win the tournament.

In the same year, he formed a tag team with Rowe as War Machine. The duo defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Michael Bennett) to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship. They later lost the title to The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian).

Hanson and Rowe joined Japanese wrestling in 2015 where they made their debut for Pro Wrestling Noah, by teaming up with Takashi Sugiura in a six-man tag team main event, and defeated Suzuki-gun (Davey Boy Smith Jr., Lance Archer, and Minoru Suzuki).

The duo War Machine made their debut for NJPW by entering the 2016 World Tag League where they finished with a record of four wins and three losses. In 2017, The War Machine defeated Tencozy (Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima) to win the IWGP Tag Team Championship. They later lost the title to Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa).

Hanson signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2018. He was assigned to WWE Performance Center for training purposes. Hanson and Rowe made their NXT debut in a winning effort by defeating the team of Adrian Jaoude & Cezar Bononi. The War Machine changed their tag team to The War Raiders after signing a contract with WWE in 2018. The War Raiders defeated The Undisputed Era at NXT Takeover: Phoenix to win the NXT Tag Team Championships.

In the recent Superstar Shakeup event, Rowe and Hanson made their main roster debut on Raw and changed their name as Ivar and Erik. They also changed their tag team name as The Viking Raiders. The Viking Riders recently won WWE Raw Tag Team Championship for the first time.
