IPL 2023: Virat Kohli Becomes Only RCB Player To Achieve this unique milestone

On Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore and India’s Star player Virat Kohli broke a new record. He did so by being the third player overall and the first member of his franchise to register 100 catches in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He accomplished this milestone while playing for his team in the IPL 2023 match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at M Chinaswammy Stadium, which is located in Bengaluru.

Even though Virat went out of the game for a golden duck, his electrifying presence on the pitch helped make up for it somewhat. Young top-order batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal, who posed a threat to end the game for RCB during a run-chase of 190 runs, were dismissed by him after taking two catches. These dismissals turned out to be crucial to his team’s victory.

In comparison to all-rounder Kieron Pollard (103 catches) and batter Suresh Raina (109 catches in 204 matches), Virat now has a total of 101 catches in 228 games.

Virat has also shown impressive batting form in IPL 2023, scoring 279 runs in seven games at an average of 46.50. In the event thus far, he has recorded four half-centuries, with the top score being 82*. His hit percentage is 141.62.

When RR asked RCB to bat first, they scored 189/9 in 20 overs. Faf du Plessis (62 off 39 balls with eight fours and two sixes) and Glenn Maxwell (77 off 44 balls with six fours and four sixes) put on a 127-run stand for the third wicket after being reduced to 12/2 and losing stand-in skipper Virat Kohli for a golden duck.

This defence turned out to be crucial in enabling RCB to record a respectable total.
