Four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) with ease on Saturday in the opening El Clasico of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, earning acclaim from legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar. At the Wankhede Stadium, Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliant batting performance and the courageous spin bowling of Ravindra Jadeja helped CSK defeat record-breaking winners Mumbai by seven wickets.
In the IPL Clasico, Jadeja was chosen Player of the Match, bowled a total blinder to get rid of MI batter Cameron Green. After CSK defeated Rohit Sharma’s MI in the lucrative league with to Jadeja’s outstanding catch, batting legend Gavaskar praised the experienced all-rounder while mentioning Chennai skipper Dhoni.

In game 12 of the IPL 2023, Jadeja picked up the important wickets of Ishan Kishan (32), Green (12), and Tilak Varma (22) to prevent Mumbai Indians from amassing a big score at the Wankhede. Against the Mumbai Indians, superstar Jadeja took three wickets and gave up 20 runs in four overs.

Gavaskar also praised veteran batsman Rahane, who scored the IPL 2023’s quickest fifty during the recently concluded Clasico between two of the richest league’s most successful clubs. In the richest T20 competition in the world, batting icon Gavaskar claimed that Rahane performed a knock for the ages.
