IPL 2020: All the CSK players and support staff test negative for Coronavirus

In a test carried out on Monday, all the CSK players have tested negative on Monday. It has come out as a sign of relief for CSK, who has suffering through a tumultuous few days.  The franchise was going through rough period after 13 members of the squad tested positive on Friday. However, in the following tests conducted, all the members have found out negative. All the players and the coaching staff will now have to undergo one more test to start training for the much-awaited league.

If the players test negative in the second Test as well, then they can start hitting the nets from 5th September. Though, Chahar and Ruturaj will continue to stay quarantined and can only start training after September 12th.

Considering the members of CSK getting positive for COVID, there could be a change in the schedule. CSK might not play the season opener scheduled against Mumbai Indians. It is also understood that the first match of IPL 2020 is likely to played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“We hope that everything will be sorted out over the next few days and we will be able to come up with our best performance in the IPL,” a source told Times of India.

Meanwhile, South African players with the likes of Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi have also arrived in UAE and will soon start hitting the nets. Harbhajan Singh has again postponed his flight as the squad is still unsure of whether he would play this season or not.

All the teams beside CSK have begun their training. Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers too hit the next recently. The 2020 IPL is scheduled to start on 19th September 2020, while the final will be played on 10th November 2020.
