Indian Contingents who are expected to win a medal in CWG 2022

TEAM INDIA is geared up to mark its 18th appearance in the Commonwealth Games 2022, which is all set to transpire in Birmingham from July 28th to August 8th.

Indian supporters worldwide are confident that our representing contingents will leave a lasting impression at this mega-event by bringing home the invaluable gold in large numbers.

With about a month left for the tournament to commence, the Indian athletes will partake in nine of the event’s twenty sporting showdowns. A total of 147 athletes have qualified for this eye-popping, mouth-watering & jaw-dropping event.

NEERAJ CHOPRA (Javelin Throw)

Neeraj Chopra, who won gold in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics, will spearhead the 37-member Indian athletics squad approved by the AFI for the CWG 2022.

He is India’s first-ever Olympic track and field gold medalist and one of the favorites to adorn the magnificent Commonwealth Games medal around his neck, glowing brightly on his brave chest that effortlessly carries the nation’s dreams.

PV SINDHU (Badminton)

India’s top-seeded badminton ace, PV Sindhu, is get-set-go ready to achieve what people across the world expect her to do: bring home the coveted gold and raise the Indian flag high, waving with pride on English soil.

PV Sindhu’s impressive portfolio includes two Olympic medals, five world championship medals, including gold in 2019, silver medals at the 2018 Commonwealth and Asian Games, and a BWF World Tour Finals triumph. At the upcoming CWG 2022, she aims to repeat history by bringing glory to our nation.

MIRABAI CHANU (Weightlifting)

Olympic silver medalist, Mirabai Chanu, will be heading India’s 12-member weightlifting team in next month’s Commonwealth Games. Over the years, Mirabai Chanu has been competing in the 49kg weight category; however, this year, at CWG 2022, she will contest in the 55kg weight category.

A winner, as the saying goes, smells success irrespective of the situation, and Mirabai Chanu is a true winner in every sense, as she looks forward to grappling and pinning down her opponents to win it all.

INDIAN WOMEN’S CRICKET TEAM

This year’s Commonwealth Games will welcome the inaugural edition of the women’s T20I format. The event will feature eight teams in total: The hosts England, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Barbados, and Sri Lanka.

Ranked at no.4 in the world T-20 standings, the Indian women’s cricket team under the leadership of the charismatic Harmanpreet Kaur, are one of the front runners to claim the first-ever women’s T-20 cricket title at CWG 2022.

INDIAN MEN’S HOCKEY TEAM

Bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian men’s hockey team had previously won two silvers in this tournament in 2010 and 2014.

The return of team veteran Manpreet Singh to the squad, and the unquenched desire of finally capturing the ultimate gold after twice settling for silver, will further fuel the fire within these players to complete the task at hand.

The Indian men’s hockey team will kick-off their campaign on July 31, 2022, against Ghana. They are a part of Group B, with the likes of England, Wales, Canada, and Ghana.
