Ind vs Aus, 1st T20I: Cannot challenge a medical expert, says Finch

Aaron Finch Most Runs in a T20I Series

Australian coach Justin Langer wasn’t happy with the concussion substitute option taken by India where the visitors decided to play Chahal in absence of Jadeja. But Australian skipper Aaron Finch didn’t raise any questions on India’s use of concussion substitute stating that one cannot challenge a medical expert’s opinion.

Several experts have criticized Virat Kohli‘s decision when he decided to go with Chahal as concussion substitute for swashbuckling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, one stage when India was batting 161 was looking a far fetched score but due to Jadeja’s brilliance who took maximum strike at the end of India’s innings scored 44 runs from 23 deliveries with five fours and one sixes at a strike rate of 191.30. India set the target of 162 runs for Australia to chase.

However, Jadeja was hit on his helmet in the final over of India’s innings and BCCI medical team decided to assess before allowing him to get on to the proceedings. Finch said that doctors have ruled out Jadeja due to concussion which we can’t challenge and added that we lost this match because our bowlers conceded too much runs at the end of India’s innings.

He also talked about his hip injury in detail where he said that it got progressively worse as the game went on. There were plenty of star performers for Indian team to thank about this amazing victory and one such name was T Natarajan who was making his International T20 debut held his nerve and took three important wickets at regular intervals.

Washington Sundar was brilliant yet again with the ball as he only gave away 16 runs in his four-over quota.  With this victory, India is leading 3 matches T20 series by 1-0. The second and third T20 match between India and Australia will be held on 6th and 8th December 2020 respectively. It will be interesting to see that whether  Jadeja gets fit and play for Men in Blue in the upcoming clash provided the kind of form he is in and his absence in the next encounter will be a big blow for the visitors.
