Inaugural season of women’s IPL is all set to start from March 2023 ; Reports

BCCI is all geared up to start full fledge inaugural edition of  women’s IPL from next year March 2023 onwards especially after the success of women’s hundred and big bash league organized by ECB and CA respectively. 

Indian Premier league on women was due and the moment the news was out that full-fledged edition of  women’s IPL is happening next year several International cricketer have expressed their desire to participate in the marquee event.

According to report from The New India Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) has picked two windows for hosting franchise style T20 league for women and the board is already in talks with stakeholders either the month of March or September would be considered as most appropriate time for hosting marquee event.

The recent women’s T20 challenge hosted by BCCI witnessed some magical matches approximately 8,621 people witnessed the final match on the ground played between Supernovas and Velocity in which former defeated later by meagre margin of 4 runs. 

Highest total was posted in the history of Women’s T20 challenge by Trailblazers where they scored 190 runs and it was eventually chased down by Supernovas and the latter has also etched their name in the history of Women’s T20 challenge by winning the title record third time. 

BCCI have already started talking with ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and CA(Cricket Australia) and together they will urge ICC(International Cricket Council) to create distinct window for league starting in March 2023. 

Based on reports from different media outlets, BCCI is elated with the response they have received from other cricket board players on their participation in the marquee event. 

If further reports are to believed, owners of Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders have shown vested interest in purchasing women’s IPL teams for next year also Chennai Super Kings is also interested in acquiring a team in women’s IPL as they have recently opened academy for Girls. 

Women’s IPL is the need of an hour and our women’s cricketer need it the most and if it happens next year it will help them immensely in terms of exposure, skill development, game awareness and gameplan where they will learn from the best in the business.
