Indian women’s fast bowling spearhead Jhulan Goswami said that a full-fledged women’s IPL will be the biggest achievement for the country especially for the youngsters who will get an opportunity to share the dressing room with experienced players which will give them a better understanding about the game.

She described this experience as “top-notch Indian players with International talent”.

As far as IPL is concerned we are expecting a full fledged women’s IPL and we are all waiting for that. Women’s IPL will be a big achievement for the country and for young cricketers as they are going to share the dressing room with top notch Indian and International talent” Jhulan said during Sports show named as “Off-the-Field” .

Jhulan talked about her journey on how she started playing professional cricket in detail.

The 1997 Women’s World Cup was happening in India and I was lucky enough to get a ticket for the mega event to be honest. I wasn’t 100 aware about the World Cup taking place. But the West Bengal government sent tickets to few girls from school and I was into sports I was fortunate enough to get those tickets“.

Once I went there with my father to watch the final encounter between New Zealand and Australian girls playing in the final inspired me and I said if I start playing this sport then I have to play for my country and after this I started taking this game seriously and decided to make carrier in it” Jhulan added.

The 37-year-old fast bowler thinks age is just a number as long as your fit and have hunger to play for your country you should play.

With good players coming in Indian team like Shefali Verma, Ekta Bisht, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma who are performing well for India in last few years indicates that Indian Women’s team future is in bright hands.

The most disappointing day for Indian women’s team will be losing 2017 World Cup where Jhulan was instrumental in the entire tournament where India lost the final by 9 runs will hurt Indian women’s team a lot in years to come. As it don’t happens all the time that you will see your team playing World Cup final after every four years.

She is also excited about her biopic where Anushka Sharma will play her on-screen to which she said ” I am very nervous about how people are going to react. I just hope it motivates more young kids to take up sports. I am looking forward to it”.
