Srikanth was blunt about Manish Pandey and said ” I don’t want to talk about him as he don’t deserve to be in the squad. If I would have been chairman of selectors I wouldn’t have taken him in my team”.
Srikanth further said ” We should discuss Axar Patel as the guy has been in tremendous form and carrying the hopes of Delhi with his all round performance”
The moment Srikanth said this on live television, other commentator Sanjay Manjerkar Jumped in to pacify the situation to which later responded, the ace batter was once considered as India’s top performer who can contribute heavily towards Men in Blue success across all formats but he had more misses than hit.
Overall if you analyze this statement from Manjrekar, Pandey was the first Indian to score century in 2009 IPL, since then he was given more chances in Indian team but unfortunately he couldn’t justify his talent.
Manish Pandey and Virat Kohli both emerged from 2008 World Cup winning team but the latter progressed at much faster pace and became one of the greats of the game while the former struggled to make an impact in International Cricket.
He has been a part of several IPL clubs, including Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors India, Lucknow Super Giants, SunRisers Hyderabad, and currently Delhi Capitals, as a result of his inconsistent play with the willow.
Last season he played for Lucknow Super Giants where he managed to score only 88 runs and in this ongoing season, the ace batter has scored 97 runs from four matches with one half century under his arsenal.
