In the 2nd Test match of the Ashes, England were chasing the target of 371. Australia was already 1-0 ahead in the series at that time. While England was chasing the target in the 2nd Test match it was important for Jonny Bairstow to stay there at the crease, and get runs for the team. However, that didn’t happen, because soon he was out.

What actually happened?

The incident happened when at the end of Cameron Green’s over, Bairstow ducked the last ball. He presumed that the ball was dead, so he left the crease to chat with his partner Ben Stokes. Carey saw the opportunity and threw down the stumps. That is when it all began. The crowd started booing the Australian team.

Spirit of the game debate

Among all the Cricket fans, and experts a debate started on the Spirit of the game, because of this runout. Some called this runout, against the spirit of the game, and for some, it was good awareness of the wicketkeeper. English fans were even more upset because, in the end, Australia won the Test match.

Now the series score is 2-1, where England has won only one match. This is where it is necessary to ensure that Steve Smith and Alex Carey, both perform well. If England loses, then there is a chance that this runout might be blamed for England’s series loss.
