Sachin Tendulkar makes a donation of Rs 50 lakhs to help at the time of Coronavirus crisis

Former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, has donated a generous sum of Rs 50 lakhs to aid in the fight against the noxious coronavirus, one of the highest donations by any sportsman in India. The master blaster decided to donate Rs 25 lakhs to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 25 lakhs to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The veteran player is known for his philanthropic activities and he didn’t back up from providing support in this dreadful situation as well.

Thursday saw a jump in the number of confirmed cases by registering 70 new cases and 6 deaths, the highest recorded in a single day in the country. The number of positive cases of Covid-19 has mounted up to over 700 in India, claiming 16 lives.

Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, many cricketers have made their contributions to help the country in warding off the coronavirus pandemic. Cricketers Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan have done their bit by donating 4,000 masks. BCCI chief and former cricketer, Sourav Ganguly, has donated rice worth Rs 50 lakhs to the needy while his brother has donated Rs. 1 lakh to the government’s emergency fund. Former captain and wicket-keeper MS Dhoni have also donated Rs 1 lakh to an NGO in Pune working to support daily wage workers.

Players from sports disciplines outside cricket have also presented a helping hand during this tough time by donating their salaries, the names of which include sprinter Hima Das and wrestler Bajrang Punia.

As the whole world is crippling under the effects of the virus, and countries are struggling to fight the rapid increase in the number of cases of COVID-19. the availability of basic facilities for every class of people has become quite difficult.
