Haddad Maia

On June 7, 2023, Brazilian tennis star Beatriz Haddad Maia made history as she became the first Brazilian female tennis player in the open era to reach the semi-finals of the Roland Garros French Open.

The path for the 14th seeded Haddad Maia was not easy at all, as she had to beat the very competitive, powerful, and 7th seeded Ons Jabeur in the quarterfinal match. After losing the first set to Jabeur 6-3, Haddad Maia made a remarkable comeback and won the second set in a close affair 7-6 (7-5). This win gave her a lot of confidence, as she dominated the third set and finally beat her opponent 6-1 in the last set.

Haddad Maia is now very close to her dream of winning a Grand Slam, especially on the clay court. She has been an inspiration for all the tennis players in the world and has shown the power of hard work and comebacks.

The road for the Brazilian, however, is not going to be easy at all from here on because she faces the current world number one and best female tennis player in the world, Iga Swiatek. Swiatek has been at her fluent best in the slam till now and looks all set to add another feather to her cap.

The number 1 seed, Iga Swiatek, will be a very tough challenge for Haddad Maia, and she will be ready to give her all in the match. Both of them will contest at the Phillippe Chatrier Court today at 7:45 p.m. IST in the second semi-final match of the Roland Garros French Open 2023.

Haddad Maia’s style of tennis is more dependent on her serve and playing to her opponents’ weaknesses, whereas Iga Swiatek’s agility and running on the court are unmatchable. Swiatek plays more attacking tennis, and with Haddad Maia ready for the challenge, we are in for an absolute thriller.
