Indian athlete, Gurmeet Singh, specializes in the 20 km race walk event. In 2011, Gurmeet set an Indian record holder in the 20 km race walk at Indian Grand Prix I, Patiala.

Gurmeet’s career began in 2010 by starting training at Sports Authority of India at Bangalore centre. He trained under the guidance of Ramakrishnan Gandhi, who trained him and brought out an excellent athlete inside of him.

Gurmeet Singh was born on 1 July 1985 in Uttarakhand, India. Gurmeet Singh’s is married to Deepmala Devi, who is also a 20 km walker.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE:
Gurmeet started his training under the guidance of Ramakrishnan Gandhi.
At Asian Championships 2012, he walked and clocked 1:21:31 in Japan. He earned a gold medal in the 2019 Asian 20 kilometres race walk championship where he finished his walk-in 1:20:29 and set a record as it was for the first time in 34 years that an Indian acquired a gold medal in Asian Championship.
Gurmeet Singh is being sponsored by the Mittal Champions Trust that is an initiative by steel magnate Lakshmi N. Mittal.
The 34 years old athlete is also one of the Indian athletes who were successfully qualified to the Summer Olympics 2012 (20 km race walk discipline) with an “A” standard qualification. He also bagged the sixth position at the 18th Dublin International Grand Prix with clock time, 1:22:05.
