Fans from Kerala made Messi walk on water

Football freaks in a village at Kerala have gone viral after they installed a 30-feet cut out of Argentina footballing ace Lionel Messi. The huge cut-out appeared in a river in the village of Pullavoor just weeks before the 2022 FIFA World cup in Qatar begins. Those fans have reached cloud nine as they have become a hot topic among football fans around the globe.

It will be fair to say that the FIFA World cup – that takes place in every four is nothing less than a festival for some fans in Kerala. The South-Indian state is very well known for its madness and obsession over football and this incident describes that very well.

Even in the Indian Super League, Kerala Blasters franchise have perhaps the most passionate fans as the stadium is mostly jam-packed in every match day. This year too “Manjappada” or the Yellow Army have turned up in numbers to support their team as over 40,000 supporters on an average come to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Lionel Messi cut-out which appeared in a river on a small islet near Cherupuzha, Kurungatta Kadavu bridge, Pullavoor. Their efforts have received a lot of appreciation even from Argentina based fan clubs who re-shared the viral clip.

The clip demonstrated the true passion and love those fans have in their heart for Lionel Messi and the anticipation of the upcoming FIFA World cup which starts from November 20. The fans were seen installing Messi’s gigantic cut-out on a Boat and put it at the center of the river.

Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr‘s cut-out was also visible in that video but the 7-time Ballon D’or winner “walking on water” has made all the news. While speaking to one of the members of Argentina Fans Association in Kerala, Jabir came out and spoke about the 30-feet cut-out.

We have been planning for the last six months to do something special in the run up to the World cup.

When you look at the statistics so far, Messi has performed well in terms of goals as well as assists in World Cups. We hope it will continue this year too. Since I was born, Argentina has never lifted a World Cup. Our support for Argentina will continue irrespective of whether the team wins the cup.
