Manuel Neuer suffered skin cancer

Germany’s 2014 World cup winning Goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer has revealed that he dealt with Skin cancer in a recent interview. Neuer is regarded as one of the best goalee’s in modern day football and has won several trophies with both Club and country.

He did not specify when he underwent surgery to treat his skin cancer, but he did reveal that three surgeries were performed. This news shocked the football world because anything could have happened in this situation. Neuer, on the other hand, will not miss the FIFA World Cup 2022, which is due to begin on November 20 with Germany meeting Japan in their opening match on November 23.

Though it is not for the first time that a sportsperson was diagnosed with any type of Cancer but there have been a number of players too who have successfully recovered from this life threatening disease. Former Indian cricketing great Yuvraj Singh is an apt example as he dealt with Seminoma Lung cancer just days after winning the ICC ODI World cup in 2011.

As a matter of fact, Borussia Dortmund’s Sebastian Haller was also diagnosed with Testicular cancer earlier this season but according to recent reports he has recovered very well and returned to training a few weeks ago. Eric Abidal, Arjen Robben, Jonas Guttierez, Jose Francisco Molina and German Burgos are some of the players who have beaten Cancer.

According to reports from trusted sources, the German goalkeeper might have suffered a possible illness last December  as he was seen walking around with a face plaster during Bayern’s Champions league clash with FC Barcelona. Moreover, he suffered a shoulder injury in October and has appeared only 9 times this season.

Though his skin cancer will not affect his chances of making it to Germany’s world cup playing 11 but he is still recovering from that Shoulder injury which has kept him out of action since early October. Bayern manager Julien Nagelsmann commented on his fitness and hopes that the 2014 World cup winner will be back soon.

We hope he’ll be available again for the weekend. He came through training well and didn’t show any reaction. But we’ll have to wait and see.

On the light of his Skin issues, Manuel Neuer has associated with Germany’s 3-time Grand slam winner Angelique Kerber who has also faced some skin related problems in the past. Although Kerber was not diagnosed with Cancer but she was reportedly suffering from Sun-induced hyper-pigmentation.

This skin condition is a lifelong disease but there are remedies to treat it. This hyper-pigmentation is caused by excessive exposure to the sun and generates Brown, Black, Grey, Red and Pink spots or patches. In 2020, 4000 Germans died because of Skin Cancer and 22,441 people were diagnosed with Skin problems alone.

We both have a history of skin diseases. In my case, skin cancer on my face, which required three surgeries. When it comes to sunscreen, we have therefore paid attention to maximum protection. ‘Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50+. ‘So we know for sure that we have a sunscreen that protects us continuously and with which hardly anything can burn. – said Manuel Neuer in a recent interview.

In order to curb the Skin related issues, both Neuer and Kerber have joined forces to invest and launch a new skin care product. The German goalkeeper revealed on Instagram on Wednesday about his cancer and his plans with the female tennis star to launch a new Sunscreen.

Kerber recently took a break from playing Tennis and travelling around the world. She took to Twitter to express her decision.
