Current MS Dhoni is lot calculated but he used to hit the ball long in the past: Ravichandran Ashwin

MS Dhoni will go down in the history of World Cricket as one of the legends of the game. Starting from a humble journey to superstardom that he has seen as a cricketer and with all the achievements he has brought for the country as a skipper and still being humble is a perfect role model for all the aspiring cricketers who want to make it big in the International circuit.

In 2008, when MS Dhoni was bought by the Chennai Super Kings franchise and subsequently made the captain of the team and 12 years down the line is the most successful IPL captain.
The credit for Chennai shining in the IPL should not be given only to the skipper Dhoni it should involve other players like Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dwayne Bravo, etc.

Ashwin recently talked about MS Dhoni during a Crickbuzz conversation with Harsha Bhogle where he talked about CSK skipper in detail

“I would be waiting in the queue at the MA Chidambaram stadium where there was a net behind the stadium and one where they practice right next to the match turf. So MS and Suresh always batted at the center. Queuing up to bowl to them at the center was some sort of a yardstick”.

He further added that

“MS of today is a lot more calculated but I have seen him back then where he used to whack every single ball and every time Murali dragged the length back, MS hit it farther. There were at least 5-6 balls that scaled the roof of the MA Chidambaram stadium. I hadn’t seen anybody hit the ball that far and that was very new in that era. To hit sixes was something we weren’t taught as youngsters,”.

After playing for Chennai from 2009 till 2015, Ashwin had to move to Rising Pune Super Giants for two years when CSK was banned. After that, he got an opportunity to play for Kings X1 Punjab and he was made a skipper and captaining them for two years but didn’t get moderate results. And in the upcoming season of IPL 2020, he will be playing for Delhi Capitals when the IPL happens post this pandemic.
