CSK VS SRH MATCH SUMMARY

CSK vs SRH Match Summary: After enduring a rough-patch in the season, Shane Watson played a match-winning knock of 96 runs off 53 deliveries to help CSK seal a place in the playoffs.

For the first time in the tournament, M.A Chidambaram stadium produced a high-scoring game in the 41st match of Indian Premier League on Tuesday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 175 runs on the board in the first innings. Much to everyone’s expectations, Harbhajan Singh scalped the first blood in the form of Jonny Bairstow. England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow fell early on Wednesday. He flashes Harbhajan’s delivery and edges to it to the keeper for a duck.

Given the pitch, a middle-order collapse was on the cards, however, Manish Pandey produced a fabulous knock of 83 runs off 49 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes.

He joined hands with David Warner to stitch a 115-run partnership for the first wicket, hammering CSK bowlers all around the ground.

David Warner also played a decent hand of 57 runs off 45 balls who was going strong from the other end. The duo not only dealt in boundaries but the singles in the partnership too looked as good as the boundaries.

Both Warner and Manish took the total to 120 before Harbhajan Singh accounted for David Warner only to put an end to a brilliant partnership in the fourteenth over of the innings.

Vijay Shankar wasn’t as convincing in his cameo of 20-ball 26 even as Manish Pandey finished with 83 off 49 balls. Runs dried up in the last five overs, however, SRH still posted a competitive total on the board for CSK.

Given the form of CSK batsmen, SRH in all likelihood were expected to win the match. However, it was a day to relish Shane Watson’s heroics who after enduring a lean patch in the tournament so far played a sublime inning of 96 runs off 53 deliveries.

Shane Watson combined with Suresh Raina to set up the chase. After playing his first 10 deliveries cautiously, Watson switched to fourth gear, taking on every SRH bowler including Rashid Khan.

Watson-Raina added 77 runs for the first wicket before Rashid drew Raina out and had him stumped in the 10th over. CSK at that stage were 80 for 2.

The match was still in the balance, however, there was no stopping Shane Watson today! The Australian batsman continued his power hitting, and post the shoulder brush with Rashid Khan, Watson looked unstoppable.

Unfortunately, Watson fell four runs short of his hundred, however, it was enough to give his side victory over SRH, as CSK won the game in the last over by six wickets on Wednesday.

With this win, CSK go back to the top of the table. They have 16 points now and are almost through to the playoffs.
